By creating an account, accessing, or using Slipfolio in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not access or use the service. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and us.
Slipfolio is a tool for organizing, storing, and exporting receipts and financial records to assist with your personal or business record-keeping. The service is not tax preparation software, a tax filing service, accounting software, audit defense assistance, or any form of professional financial, legal, or accounting advice. Nothing in Slipfolio constitutes professional advice of any kind.
You are solely responsible for reviewing receipts, extracted fields, exports, categories, totals, and any other records before you rely on them. Keep original receipts and independent backups of records that matter to you. You are responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and tax obligations in your jurisdiction.
Slipfolio may be released first as a no-charge, controlled-access, or preview service. Some features may be incomplete, usage-limited, or subject to change. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time, including preview features, integrations, storage limits, or AI extraction, but we will try to give reasonable notice where a change materially affects active users.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use Slipfolio without parental or guardian consent. Users between 13 and 17 years of age (or between 16 and 17 where a higher minimum age applies under applicable law, including GDPR Article 8) may use Slipfolio only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on their behalf. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to use Slipfolio, or under 16 where required by applicable law.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@slipfolio.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
You retain all ownership rights in the receipts, images, documents, and other content you upload to Slipfolio ("Your Content"). By uploading Your Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, display, transmit, extract data from, and create exports from Your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the service to you.
If you use organisation or team features, workspace owners, admins, or members may be able to view, edit, export, delete, or otherwise manage Your Content according to their role. Do not upload content unless you have the right to do so and are comfortable with the relevant workspace members accessing it.
We will not access, use, or share Your Content except as required to provide the service, secure and debug Slipfolio, respond to support requests you initiate, respond to a lawful legal request, or as you explicitly direct.
You agree not to:
Slipfolio relies on third-party infrastructure and services, including cloud storage, email delivery, payment processing, analytics, observability, and optional AI-assisted receipt data extraction. Your use of the service may be subject to those third parties' applicable terms. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of any third-party service provider. If AI extraction is enabled, the image or PDF you submit for extraction may be transmitted to an AI provider to process. We do not use your receipt content to train AI models and do not opt in to provider model training. The AI provider may retain API inputs, outputs, and related logs for abuse monitoring, security, service operation, or legal compliance according to its own API data processing terms.
Slipfolio may offer free, no-charge preview, and paid tiers. If paid checkout is not enabled, plan limits may still appear in the service, but no paid upgrade or subscription purchase is being offered.
If paid subscriptions are introduced, the price, renewal period, included limits, cancellation method, and any trial terms will be shown before purchase. We will not charge you without your affirmative consent. Purchases may be processed by a payment provider such as Stripe or another disclosed payment provider.
Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law, stated at checkout, or required by the applicable payment-provider rules. If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom purchasing a digital service, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days of purchase, unless you have already accessed or downloaded the digital content, in which case the cooling-off right may not apply. We may change plan pricing or limits prospectively, but we will provide notice where required by law or platform rules.
Slipfolio is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that Slipfolio will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components; that data will not be lost, corrupted, or disclosed to unauthorized parties; or that any defects will be corrected. You use Slipfolio at your own risk. Slipfolio is not a backup service - maintain independent copies of any records that matter to you.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation that cannot be lawfully excluded.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use Slipfolio, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or Slipfolio, regardless of the form of action, shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) twenty-five US dollars (USD $25.00) or the local currency equivalent.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages — including Quebec under the Consumer Protection Act, other Canadian provinces, EU member states, and the United Kingdom. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law, and you may have additional statutory rights that these Terms cannot override.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless us and our officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) Your Content, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your use of Slipfolio in a manner that violates any applicable law or regulation.
Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You may delete your account through Slipfolio or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we discontinue the service, or if continued operation would create legal, security, or abuse risk.
You should export any records you want to keep before deleting your account or ending your use of Slipfolio. After account deletion, access to your account and records may end immediately, and deletion from backups follows our retention practices described in the Privacy Policy. If you are the sole owner of a shared workspace, you may need to transfer ownership or remove other members before account deletion can complete. All provisions that by their nature should survive termination - including Sections 5, 9, 10, 11, and 14 - will survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (e.g., by email or service notice) at least 30 days before the changes take effect where required by applicable law. Your continued use of Slipfolio after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using Slipfolio and may export or delete your data as described above.
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without limiting any mandatory consumer protection or data protection rights that apply where you live.
For disputes, we encourage you to contact us first at support@slipfolio.app — we will make a genuine effort to resolve issues informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled in a court or forum with lawful jurisdiction over the dispute, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise.
If you are a consumer, nothing in this section removes or limits any rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your own jurisdiction. In particular: (a) consumers in EU member states retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence; (b) consumers in the United Kingdom retain the right to bring proceedings in UK courts; (c) consumers in Australia retain rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. For EU consumers, the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding Slipfolio and supersede any prior agreements. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
If you are using Slipfolio on behalf of a business or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
